SINGAPORE, 22 FEBRUARY 2023 — Motor racing fans in Singapore can look forward to watching some thrilling races up close, with American-style oval track racing set to take place in Singapore for the first time. The U.S. Legend Cars racing series will flag off on a specially-built track at the Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) from 11-13 August as part of the inaugural Goodstock SpeedFest.
Singapore promoter Goodstock Motorsports has been given the rights to promote and host the event this year. The Goodstock SpeedFest will be supported by two motorsports events, including the Bandolero race for women and a Drift show.
The event was launched on Wednesday (22 February) at Our Tampines Hub, where Goodstock Motorsports Managing Director Ben Tan and G.E. Chapman, U.S. Legend Cars Vice-President of Racing Operations, formalized the agreement. The launch was attended by Assoc Prof Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development, and Goodstock Motorsports President John Dennehy.
The U.S. Legend Cars race, which offers a total prize purse of S$150,000, will feature 30 drivers from the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Established Japanese driver Akinori Ogata, who competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, will be among the competitors vying for honours and the top prize of S$100,000 in Singapore.
The race is sanctioned by the INEX, the international sanctioning body of the Legend Car, and supported by Motor Sports Singapore. These single-seater Legend Cars can reach a top speed of 240 km/h and drivers will race 30 laps around a temporary quarter-mile (400 metres) oval track that will be built on the grounds of the Singapore Airshow at CEC.

The racing series began in 1992 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina, United States and has grown to become one of the fastest-growing motorsports events in the world. Races are now held across several countries in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. Further information on U.S. Legend Cars and oval racing is available at Annex A.
In addition to the exhilarating races on the track in Singapore, Goodstock SpeedFest spectators can also enjoy a performance from famed British stunt driver Terry Grant, whose multiple world records include performing the largest loop-the-loop in a car.
The track venue can seat 5,000 per day. Ticketing information is available at ticketmaster.sg. The Goodstock SpeedFest will also feature premium entertainment with well-known music artists, and delectable food and beverage options. Further details will be revealed at a later date.
Quotes: G.E. Chapman, Vice-President of Racing Operations, U.S. Legend Cars International (USLCI), “I am proud that Singapore will be hosting this series, which is growing in popularity around the world. Our U.S. Legend Cars series have bred many NASCAR champions such Joey Logano, who won races in the 2018 and 2022 Cup Series and winner of the 2015 Daytona 500, and Chase Elliott, another NASCAR Cup series winner (in 2020 and 2022). Motorsports is growing very fast in Asia, and Singapore is the right place for us to reach fans in the Southeast Asian region. We have a good partner in Goodstock and will work with them to make the event here a success.”
Ben Tan, Managing Director of Goodstock Motorsports, “Oval track racing has a rich history in the United States and fans are attracted to the fast and close racing between drivers. As ticket holders are seated in a stadium-style arena, they are able to watch the entire race and all the action and drama that take place on the track. In bringing in U.S. Legend Cars, we are adding variety to the motorsports calendar in Singapore and have plans to grow it in stature and prestige in the coming years.”
Winson Ow, President, Motor Sports Singapore, “The Goodstock SpeedFest is a great boost for the Singapore motorsports community. Ben and his team have opened up a path for us to give enthusiasts an opportunity to indulge in their favourite sport. We look forward to spotting talent who can compete in the U.S. 3 Legend Cars series and from there to other international series. They have a well-rounded model, in terms of venue and objectives. We hope to work with Goodstock Motorsports to stage other local events for racing enthusiasts in Singapore. This is definitely an exciting new chapter for motorsports in Singapore.”
